As the architects of civilization, ancient Africans developed the humanizing principles which established the foundation for world civilization. It is within this framework that IKG concentrates its research and disseminates its findings in an effort to demystify history and present knowledge that can be readily applied in a practical and personal manner.
IKG is an educational organization that is devoted to the re-discovery and application of ancient African history, culture and wisdom. It was founded in 1981 by Anthony T. Browder who sought to challenge the distorted perceptions of Africa that are perpetuated in the media and in classrooms worldwide.
History has shown that the study, analysis and application of ancient knowledge has empowered those who have studied and mastered its teachings. Among the enlightened few, it is an acknowledged fact that ancient Africans were the architects of civilization and that they developed the humanizing principles that established the foundation for Western civilization. It is within this framework that IKG researches, analyzes and disseminates Information in an effort to demystify history and present Knowledge that can be applied in a practical manner that yields personal Growth and development.
Under the direction of Mr. Browder, IKG has sponsored lectures, workshops and conferences that have featured presentations by renowned historians, scientists, psychologists and scholars that discussed aspects of African, African American and world history, culture and philosophy. Over 300 hours of these historic presentations were archived on audio and video tape, and are currently being distributed to schools, households, universities and institutions worldwide.
Mr. Browder has traveled to Egypt over 40 times and has lectured on topics pertaining to African and African American history and culture in multiple forums throughout the United States, Africa, Europe, Japan, Mexico and the Caribbean. Since 1987, Mr. Browder has personally escorted study tours to Egypt, West Africa, South Africa and Mexico. These study tours consist of field trips and seminars that are designed to re-acquaint the participants with the wonders of African history and culture. Under his direction, IKG has published six titles and two study guides which are currently being used in school systems throughout the United States, Africa, the Caribbean, England and Japan.
The Cultural Resource Center houses a permanent exhibit of the Egypt on the Potomac Field Trip of Washington, D.C. and is a source for IKG publications and related materials. The IKG Cultural Resource Center also sponsors educational and personal enhancement workshops and seminars. It serves as IKG's newest component in the fulfillment of its mission as advocate for the dissemination of information and knowledge regarding the positive portrayal of the worldwide African experience.

The IKG Cultural Resource Center has a new home at the Thurgood Marshall Center Building in the heart of the historic Shaw community in NW Washington, DC. This historic building was formally known as the Anthony Bowen YMCA and its hallowed halls were frequented by Langston Hughes, Duke Ellington, Joe Louis, Thurgood Marshall and other notable giants.
The building opened in 1912. It was renamed the Anthony Bowen YMCA in 1972 and closed a decade later. The property was restored and re-opened as the Thurgood Marshall Center for Service and Heritage in 2000. The Thurgood Marshall Center for Service and Heritage (TMCSH) houses several non-profit organizations who are dedicated to serving the children, youth and families of the District of Columbia.
IKG is an educational organization that was founded by author and lecturer Anthony Browder in 1980. Mr. Browder established the Cultural Resource Center in 2005. The IKG Cultural Resource Center (IKG/CRC) will have its open house at The Thurgood Marshall Center Building on Saturday, May 6, 2006 from 3 until 6 pm.
IKG's Egypt on the Potomac Field Trips will be offered the first Saturday of the month-May thru November. All Field Trips will depart from this location at 10am and 2pm.
A permanent exhibit of the Egypt on the Potomac Field Trip will be housed on the second floor. Field Trip tickets are $25 adult/$15 students and may be purchased by phone at 301-853-2465, or by mail to 1816 12th St. NW, WDC 20009.
The IKG Cultural Resource Center's Wisdom Wednesday Forum on History and Culture will be offered monthly on the third Wednesday of the month from 7-9pm beginning in June.
Throughout the year IKG/CRC will offer lectures, classes and conferences in fulfillment of our mission as advocates for the dissemination of knowledge regarding the positive portrayal of the worldwide African experience.
